INEC fix December 10th for Rivers rerun election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed December 10th for the National Assembly re-run elections in Rivers state. The Senate on Wednesday threatened to suspend plenary should the electoral body fail to conduct the Rivers senatorial, House of Representatives and also State House of Assembly elections on or before December 10th. ‎

The Commission in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Augusta Ogakwu, states that pending elections in Lagos and FCT have been slated for Saturday December 3rd 2016.

Presidency reacts to Senate’s rejection of Buhari’s $30bn loan request

The Presidency has said it will not dispute the decision of the Senate to reject the request of President Buhari to borrow $30 billion to fund some capital projects. The Senate during plenary yesterday, rejected the letter from President Buhari due to the absence of some documents from the presidency indicating what projects the borrowed money would be used to execute.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja after the rejection, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Ita Enang, said that the Presidency would not be disputing with the senate but would rather engage with them on the issue that had been raised.

He added that the missing documents that gave rise for the rejection are being collated and would be sent to the Senate. ‎

“We are not disputing with the distinguished Senate. There are certain information and details which will enable them to consider in detail, and appropriately the request of Mr President. So we are collating that information. The Budget Office of the Federation, the Debt Management Office, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Minister of Finance and the economic team are collating the information so that it can be submitted to the Senate to enable them take the appropriate decision. We would be engaging the Senate. We will not be disputing with them but we will be engaging with them. When we present a matter before the legislature it is for them to consider and as they have considered, more information is needed and that information they are entitled to it and we would provide,” he said

Troops arrest Boko Haram terrorists drugs supplier... See Photos

Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on patrol from Bama to Pulka, intercepted suspected Boko Haram terrorists drugs and other logistics suppliers from Firgi and Zawan axis, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, at suspected Boko Haram terrorists crossing point, trying to cross into Sambisa forest today afternoon.



The troops pursued them but were only able to apprehend Kadiri Umate, 35 years, while others fled into the bush.


The patrol team recovered 35 packets of 500ml of Glocose Intravenous infusion (Drip), assorted analgenics and pain killer drugs, clothes, bathroom slippers, insecticides, salt, kolanuts and a bicycle. The suspect is undergoing preliminary investigations.

In a related development, a suspected Boko Haram terrorists logistics and fuel supplier, Fantoma Lasani was arrested today by troops in conjunction with Civilian JTF at Muna garage when he came to pick his wife to finally relocate out of Maiduguri. The suspect who hailed from Flatari village, Bama Local Government Area, is among some unpatriotic elements in the society that had been supplying Boko Haram terrorists with Premium Motor Spirit and Automative Gas Oil in Bama, Gwoza and Sambisa general area.

Photographer shoots photos of naked people standing with the head to reflect how Doald Trump has turned the world upside down

Photographer, Spencer Tunick has taken pictures of 20 naked people standing with their head to reflect how the rise of Donald Trump is turning the world upside down.

The photo-shoot which he called 'Inversion' was done on the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende as part  of Mexico's day of the Dead celebrations.



Using the 'La Calaca festival as background, Spencer said the work was done to reflect how Donald has caused Hysteria and inverted minds of the people.

Using metal rods as aid, the models which consisted of both Mexicans and foreigners were positioned upside down on a Hill at the Rancho Los Sendros.
