We’re not responsible for current economic downturn- FG tells Nigerians

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, yesterday said the Buhari-led administration is not responsible for the current economic downturn. Speaking to state house correspondents at the end of the National Economic Council, NEC, Udoma said;
“We did not and are not responsible for the current economic situation we find ourselves. We are actually a rescue team, a team working to rescue Nigeria from the position we find ourselves in.
Under President Buhari, we are determined to take Nigeria out of the situation. The situation started long before we came. As you know, oil price started falling from 2014 when it was about $110 and by January this year, it was below $30. Unfortunately, they did not save. We are determined to take Nigeria from a consuming nation to a producing nation. That is why we are developing an economy recovery plan and that is our focus. We are committed to success.”
He disclosed that part of the rescue measures the government intends to adopt is to cut down on the retinue of political aides, size of their convoys, local and foreign trips amongst others.

No plans to increase pump price to N150- NNPC

NNPC last week adjusted the pump price of petrol at its mega stations nationwide from N141 to N145. In a statement released by the groups General Manager for Public Affairs, Garba Deen Muhammed, the corporation reacted to the increase and also denied claims of planning to increase pump price to N150 per liter. Read the statement below...

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said it is not empowered statutorily to tinker with the pricing template of petroleum products as erroneously reported in some national dailies. In a press statement on Monday, NNPC stated that the price adjustment in its downstream facilities from N141 to N145 per litre is still within the price band of N135 and N145 per litre approved on 11th May, 2016 by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), the statutory body in charge of petroleum products pricing. The Corporation assured marketers and motorists of its readiness to continue to play its statutory role of being the supplier of last resort and ensuring energy security for the nation. The NNPC further confirmed the availability of over 1.6 billion litres of PMS in-country that would last 45 days consumption. The NNPC said there was no time its Management met the President to push for a hike in the pump price of petrol to N150 per litre. It advised journalists to always cross check their facts before going to press.

Brangelina Divorce: Battle between Jolie & Pitt for custody of their kids continue

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt made headlines when their supposedly perfect marriage crashed and Angelina sought for primary custody of their children. Well, the battle is on as Brad has not only filed legal documents requesting for joint custody, but Angelina is reportedly not willing to stand down. Read TMZ's report after the cut...

Angelina Jolie is ready and willing to fight Brad Pitt in court over the custody of their children and "until he gets his s**t together" she only wants him to have monitored visitation ... sources connected to Angelina tell TMZ.

Angelina's wish list is basically what she and Brad agreed to temporarily while the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services investigates a confrontation between Brad and Maddox. As we reported, DCFS is looking more broadly at interactions in the family.

Our Angelina sources say she ultimately wants the family repaired so she and Brad can resume a "normal" parenting regime, but until then she will fight hard for sole physical custody. She believes Brad has substance abuse and anger issues that must be addressed.

Sources connected with Brad tell us ... the custody arrangement is riding on the conclusions of DCFS, and they believe the agency will determine Brad is a good parent.

One Angelina source said this is looking more and more like "War of the Roses redux."
